A familiar voice on radio and television advertising, Lisa Carroll of Moonstar Advertising Public Relations will be back this year as our master of ceremonies.
2011 “Art of Cuisine” Iron Chef Challenge Judges:
Pat Branning: Pat Branning is the author of the best selling book, “Shrimp,Collards and Grits,” recipes, stories and art from the creeks and gardens of the Lowcountry. Currently Pat is the food editor of the Beaufort Tribune and works as a freelance writer. She has been a regular contributor to the “Islander” magazine,”Beaufort” magazine and has hosted television shows for SCETV. The former “on-the-air" personality and Women’s Editor for WSB Radio, Atlanta is a graduate of the University of Georgia. For more information about Pat, visit http://mycarolinacooking.com.
Emily Grenier: A graduate of the Culinary Institute of America and foodservice professional, Emily Grenier was raised in farming community in Vermont. Her interest in food grew when living in Toulouse, France, while attending Dartmouth College. She has worked as a roundsman at Citigroup Executive Planning Center in Armonk, New York and has worked producing hot and cold appetizers and desserts at Charlie's L'Etoile Verte on Hilton Head. Emily now works as a Marketing Associate servicing Hilton Head and Bluffton for Sysco Columbia, LLC.
Nancy Shilling: Nancy Shilling is one of this year’s Co-Admirals for the Historic Bluffton Arts and Seafood festival and will help lead the Board Parade and Blessing of the Fleet on the May River. In January of 2001, Nancy founded Friends of the Rivers, (now the Port Royal Sound Foundation) a grass roots organization with the express mission of protecting the quality of our water resources. Nancy moved to the Lowcountry to help her dad open a marina (Schilling Boat House) and quickly became a leader in environmental issues. Over the past 26 years, Nancy has written a marina travel guide, started the SC Marine Association, Friends of the Rivers along with its outreach organization, River Smart.
David Harter: David Harter has been a Hilton Head Island resident for 31 years and is the president of the Hilton Head Island Sportfishing Club (www.hhisfc.com) and VP and projects director for the Hilton Head Reef Foundation (www.reeffoundation.com) ,which includes the “Friends of Waddell”. Dave has been chief investigator for three NOAA cooperative fisheries grants for research on cobia, red drum and dolphin fish. He is an advisory panel member for the South Atlantic Fisheries Management Council and a board member of the South Carolina Wildlife Federation. Dave is a licensed Coast Guard captain and an original member of the Beaufort County Clean Water Task Force. Dave is the board chairman for Friends of the Rivers and an instructor for USCB’s Osher Lifelong Learning Institute which includes a course on “Seafood and Restaurants”. For a real job he owns the Hilton Head, Bluffton and Beaufort Glidden paint stores.
Sue Ade: Veteran HBASF Iron Chef Challenge judge Sue Ade makes a return again this year. Sue is a syndicated food writer and photographer for Morris News Service with a broad interest in the culinary arts. Her food column appears locally in Bluffton Today, Hardeeville Today, Hilton Head Island Today and the Jasper County Sun, as well as several other Morris newspapers across the country.
